Westmalle Extra is a low-alcohol beer that has been served for centuries at the monks’ table and to their guests. It is made with water, barley malt, and hop cones. The yeast used for this beer is the same yeast from Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel. The beer is top-fermented but significantly lighter than the monks’ other two beers. It has the characteristic Westmalle aroma, with hops emerging in the finish.
